Material & Finish Selection in Greater Montréal

We select finishes, fixtures, and materials for commercial, retail, and residential projects across Greater Montréal — balancing design intent, durability, lead time, and budget — then specify and document every choice so it's ordered and installed correctly.

Frequently asked
Material & Finishes — your questions, answered.
What is the difference between a material and a finish?
A material is the substance an element is made of — wood, stone, tile, glass, metal, laminate. A finish is the treatment applied to its surface, such as paint, stain, a matte or polished coating, or veneer. On a Greater Montréal project we specify both together, since the same material can perform very differently depending on the finish selected.
How do you choose materials that balance durability, budget, and design intent?
We weigh each selection against traffic and use, maintenance, lifespan, and cost, then match it to the design direction. A retail or commercial floor needs harder-wearing finishes than a private residence. We compare options against the budget, present physical samples, and confirm each choice performs for its location before it is specified and ordered.
How are the selected finishes documented and communicated to the trades?
Every approved choice is recorded in a finish schedule and specification listing the product, brand, model, colour, texture, and location. This document guides our trades and suppliers during construction so materials are ordered and installed exactly as approved. We source samples and mock-ups, and confirm availability and lead times before work begins to avoid on-site substitutions.
