Commercial & Retail Interior and Exterior Design in Greater Montréal
We design commercial, retail, and residential interiors — and the exteriors that frame them — for clients across Greater Montréal. As a design-build studio, we design spaces knowing exactly how they'll be built, so the drawings you approve are the space you get: on budget, up to code, and finished the way it was shown.

Our approach
How we deliver interior & exterior design.
Brief & site review
We start with how the space needs to work, your brand, budget, and the constraints of the existing building.
Concept & visualisation
Layouts, materials, and 3D views so you can see and sign off on the space before anything is built.
Design development
We resolve the details — finishes, lighting, millwork — into a buildable, permit-ready package.
Build under one roof
The same studio that designed it builds it, so nothing gets lost between designer and contractor.
Where it fits
Offices, retail stores and showrooms, restaurants and lounges, clinics, and residential interiors across Montreal Island, Laval, the South and North Shores, the West Island, and Vaudreuil.
Why IN Design & Construction
Design and construction under one roof — the design you approve is the space we build.
A Greater Montréal design-build studio since 2002 — RBQ-licensed, with design, drawings, and construction under one roof.
Frequently asked
Interior & Exterior Design — your questions, answered.
How much does commercial or retail interior design cost in the Montréal area?
Fees depend on square footage, complexity and finishes. Commercial designers commonly bill hourly, as a flat project fee, or as a percentage of construction cost (roughly 8–15% for full design services on retail fit-outs). Custom millwork, storefront work and procurement add cost. As a design-build firm we give one combined design-plus-construction estimate up front, so you see the total number before committing.
Do I need a permit and architect's plans to renovate my commercial space in Montréal?
Yes. A renovation permit and an updated occupancy permit (certificat d'occupation) are typically required, and each borough sets its own rules. In Quebec, plans for many commercial alterations must be sealed by an OAQ architect or an engineer depending on the building's size and use. We handle drawings, sealed plans where required, and the borough permit process as part of the project.
Do you handle both the interior and the exterior storefront, or just one?
Both. We design interior layouts, finishes, lighting and fixtures alongside exterior elements such as façades, signage, entrances and storefronts. Coordinating them keeps the brand consistent and avoids conflicts between trades. In Montréal, exterior and signage changes often need separate borough approval and must meet façade standards, which we factor into the design and permit work from the start.
